I'm all ready to shell out $120 for the full deal if the game is "fun". Will we have a chance to play a demo or open beta before the Founder pack sale expires?

Not if you aren't already in beta.

If you're lucky. Otherwise have a little faith.

So far, I've read that the Founders packs will cease sales on, or before August 7th. And Open beta will be after August 7th. I could be wrong on this..

MiniChiken has it right, takes a little faith.

They have already stated that the founders packages will close on aug 7th, which is the start of closed beta 2. The members of closed beta two will be the founders pack buyers. So no, you cannot try it without first purchasing and waiting. That is the point.

To me it boiled down to whether I wanted to support the development of a game I was already awestruck by simply with watching the trailers. And whether I wanted to assure myself of access nlt than 7 August. All the other bells and whistles of having a leg up on the skill trees and the ability lifelong to make more money were nice too.

I agree - my beta request has been pending for a number of weeks.

Even shedding out $60 for a game I've not played or even know the final PC spec it too much a gamble.

when was the last time you preordered a game (say... COD or BF) and got to play the game first?

I was going to spend $120, then I read more posts asking to actually see what they are going to get for it. Even a single player game gets a small demo for half the price.

So I'm joining that argument.

Give it a couple of months and there will be players in this forum complaining about how they wish they never spent $120. There always is in every game, every kind of argument and complaint. So many users in this forum have spent the $120, they behave as if its nothing, but just wait and see. Some of them will have some complaint to make one day and their tune will change about their payment. Granted not all and most will be happy, like I probably will be.

I too think I will love the game, but it is not the point. My own customers for my own software get a refund if they are not happy and they pay about $140. They also get endless videos, tutorials, endless page of documentation, they get to speak to myself directly, they get access to beta, trials etc

I won't get a refund for my $120 on this if it launches, no rights. Only with software can they get away with that, despite this being a service that can be stopped from their end. Many developers ethics are poor especially in MMO game development. So I realised I don't want to encourage this behaviour in software development when the software is provided via a controlled web service, not a stand alone product for Windows. They are hiding behind the old software no return excuse, desptie it not applying in the slightest because this is a service.

They could issue even 1 hour of beta access and I want that first. That is my change of position since a couple of days ago.

When I have no trial for my software, customers don't want to pay $20 never mind $120. Let me see the game please, thanks.

Never because I don't buy games before they are released unless I know they are good because I have played a demo or participated in the beta. Also, AAA titles charge around $60, MWO is $120 for the full deal.

Ultimately you are missing the point though. I'm not asking to play the game first before I buy. I just want to see what the general reviews are before slapping down $120. With COD or BF, I would be able to do this.

Many here have scoffed at what I have suggested, they also all have legendary forum tags, funny that.

Lol, you want to read reviews. A game only gets good reviews if the devs shell out the cash for one.

How about you try watching the trailers and gameplay views with IGN, for example.

There, you've seen the product, happy birthday, now go buy founders.

Or not. We don't really care.

That defeats the purpose of the founders pack.

This. It's a way for players to support development before the launch and get some nice thank you gifts for it.

I also wouldn't want to judge the final game from a beta build where things are still being added.

Founders packs are optional, get one if you want, don't get one, no one really cares what you do, it's your money you can do whatever you want with it.

I echo everything you just said. Some people are saying "Just have faith" I have been playing games for a long time. The ones that are good, don't try to bait you with the hype. MW/BT has a huge fan following and unfortunately this is also a perfect group for exploitation. I'm sure there are some people who are ready to flame me for that, let me be clear: I am *NOT* accusing PG or anyone else of exploiting fans.

All I'm saying is that it happens often in this industry and the "get it before it's too late" gimmic is the worst kind.

GHQCommander said wait for the reviews from the closed beta players. This is the only point I will disagree with. All beta players are required to sign an NDA. This was pushed pretty heavily at the sign up. PG has done a good job of covering all the bases here. I don't see how the people on the outside will know anything until they either fork over the cash or wait until after the open beta.

Please explain how getting to experience the mechanics and gameplay environment for a few minutes defeats the purpose of the founders pack.

Anyone else find it weird that a whole bunch of the new users seem to have a bone to pick with the founders pack?

Hasn't this thread already happened? I must be having deja vu... Anyways, if you don't want to buy, don't. You can spend money after the game comes out if you feel like it then, no one is judging you for not being a founder.

Also, this thread is quite relevant http://mwomercs.com/...archsmall-rant/

Don't want to pay for a FREE GAME without playing it? Fine, wait until it's released and then pay then if you want. Guaranteed they will have packages similar to the Founders packs when the game is released, you just won't get the Founders titles.

Or otherwise go cry about missing out on playing a free game slightly earlier than anyone else. Choice is up to you.

Funny how a lot of kickstarter projects offer even alpha builds for you to try out without charging a dime ... Being "kickstarter" does not mean that people should support it without trying it out first.

There is nothing wrong with that request. If there are some (a lot, actually) people who are ready to give money without seeing what they are giving their support for that is their choice.

There is merit in what these people are asking. You might not agree with what they are asking, but you have to agree that they have the right to ask.
